PostHeaderIcon Aston Villa v Arsenal Odds and Preview

All the attention in the sports world in North America will be placed on one event for the next two weeks. Early Super Bowl XLIV odds give the Peyton Manning-led Indianapolis Colts an edge over Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints. Much of the outside world, however, will be focusing on football matches being played on their other side of the ocean this week.

Arsenal currently sits at second on the table, two points behind Manchester United with a game in hand. Chelsea sits just behind with 38 points as well, but both clubs have a healthy 10 point edge on fourth place Tottenham Hotspur.

Both clubs have had to overcome their share of injuries. Villa will play without striker John Carew, full-back Stephen Warnock, and midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker. They should have their Captain Stiliyan Petrov, despite his troubled Achilles.

Villa will play their fourth straight match at home, having edged Brighton 3-2 on Saturday, and beaten the Blackburn Rovers 6-4 in an offensive onslaught. Arsenal won the previous matchup 3-0 back at the end of December.

Villa manager Martin O’Neill has been very confident in recent days, talking of an upset over second-place Arsenal. O’Neill’s squad had an eight-game unbeaten streak that was ended by Arsenal back on Boxing Day in a 3-0 result. They’ll want some revenge but they better have more in the tank than that. They haven’t won or score since Christmas Day but that particular loss could fuel them to victory.

Betting Line

Sportsbook odds: Aston Villa +215, Arsenal +125

Sportsbook odds for Draw: +225

While sports betting has been overwhelmed by the Super Bowl, it is still open for the English Premiere League.  The betting lines make Arsenal the favourite on the road in this match, 5/4 to win.  Aston Villa is getting 9/4 odds to draw and looked poised for an upset.

Along with some standard betting tips, keep a few other things in mind with this match. Despite the injuries, Aston Villa should come out strong and motivated. The home crowd at Villa Park should help immensely.

Arsenal, meanwhile, may get caught looking ahead to their home tilt against Manchester United on Sunday. Aston hasn’t done as well on the road this year as they have done at home, and this is about the time of year they drop a match or two that they should win. With some cold weather, a strong home crowd, and a motivated Villa team, Arsenal could be in store for a big trap.

PICK: Aston Villa

PICK LOST

When Birmingham arrives in Everton stadium then there are few goals per match. Only once this two teams have play over. In history this teams are under teams, Everton at home have 53% under. Birmingham on road have 63% under. In last 5 this teams are playing as usual, under and low scoring matches. 3 under matches for Everton and all 5 matches for Birmingham. So its obvious this teams are playing defensive soccer. No important absences for both teams, but Everton is without 2 African players, Yakubu defender and Yobo attacker.

Inter Milan vs AC Milan

Location: San Siro, Milan, Italy

Kick-Off: Sunday, January 24, 2:45 PM ET

Inter Milan

Inter, who were the online betting favorites heading into the season, have a six-point lead on their city rivals atop Serie A, but they`ve been uncharacteristically shaky at the back lately. They`ve been scoring despite the absence of Samuel E`to, who is away at the African Cup of Nations, but manager Jose Mourinho can`t be impressed with the way his defense has played lately. They may have some problems in midfield as well as Thiago Motta and Dejan Stankovic are injury worries for the Milan Derby.

AC Milan

Milan has won its last four overall, and they`ve been sparked by Ronaldinho, who is finally starting to resemble the player who won most of the major individual awards between 2004 and 2006. While Ronaldinho has carried the offensive load, the re-emergence of Alessandro Nesta has also been crucial to Milan`s improvement over the year, but he may miss this game along with Alex Pato, who is definitely out.

Outlook and Pick

Inter is a +140 favorite in the 174th edition of the Milan derby, while Milan (the “home“ team since they share the field at the San Siro with Inter) is rated at +175, and a draw comes in at +210. Inter has won six of the last 10 Milan derbies, including a 4-0 thrashing of Milan back in August, and you can bet that revenge will factor into this game as Milan was embarrassed. They`ve improved greatly over the season, and even with the injuries they`re facing in this game, Milan has enough quality and pride in the side to come away with the win in this match (Side note: in the last 10 meetings between these two sides, there has been no draws, and eight have gone over the posted total). Look for Ronaldinho to put Milan on his back and lead the team to a famous win over their city rivals, as he is the one player on the pitch that can change the game with one move, and he`s been in a rich vein of form, posting a Serie A-leading eight assists to go with his nine goals, which is tops on Milan.

Bookmaker odds (bookmaker reviews) pick: Milan +175

PostHeaderIcon Fiorentina vs Lazio home win – 1.719

PICK WON

Lazio is most probably not interested into Cup match since they are fighting against relegation, only 4 points ahead of Atalanta who is on 18 place that leads into Serie B. All over Lazio have good score when visiting Fiorentina, but most of that score have come before 3-5 years ago, in last 2 years Fiorentina is dominating.

At home Fiorentina wins 60% of the time and Lazio on road lose 36% of the time. Recent form indicates that Fiorentina have 3 wins and 2 loses in last 5, while Lazio with 2 wins, 1 draw and 2 loses.

But most important fact is that Lazio is missing some important key players, 2 central defenders are out and substitutes are not ready, so there will be some improvisation in Lazio defensive line.
