The final stretch of the season nears, and clubs are scrambling for precious points and separation in a tightly packed table. One of the most interesting matches of the weekend features two clubs near the middle of table playing, as Newcastle United looks to make a final push as they host Norwich City.
Currently in sixth position, just outside the top tear of teams a birth in the Europa League, Newcastle United has 12 wins, eight draws, and 44 points. They are seven back of Chelsea in fifth place, eight points behind Arsenal in fourth, and nine back of Tottenham in third. They still have an outside chance to catch some of those clubs, but will need to rack up wins to do so.
They play at home this coming weekend where they have earned seven of their nin wins and have five draws. They have only two losses all season at home, and have outscored their opponents by a 21-15 margin.
Still, they have struggled of late. They have not won in four games, losing two and drawing too. Both road games in that span were losses, and both home games were draws. They have scored four goals in those four games, but have allowed 10.
They have a better stretch of schedule upcoming, and it starts with Norwich City. The club has fallen to 12th, and has nine wins and nine draws on the year. Their 36 points puts them right at the same spot as three other teams, with two clubs ahead at 37, and a couple behind within reach as well. They have the chance to move as high as seven or eight before the season ends, or as low as 15th.
They have played well on the road, winning four times and drawing four as well. Yet, they have been struggling too, having not won in three games, losing two and drawing one.
Betting lines: At home, Newcastle United is the clear favourite. They are the better team with better defense, and enjoy one of the best home field advantages in the league. They will earn an important three points as they win 2-0.

The final stretch of the season nears, and clubs are scrambling for precious points and separation in a tightly packed table. One of the most interesting matches of the weekend features two clubs of near the bottom of the table, fighting it out to remain in the top league in the world.
Wolverhampton Wanderers host Blackburn Rovers in a very important match at the bottom of the table. Wolverhampton currently sits in 18th position inside the relegation zone with five wins, seven draws, and 22 points. Blackburn is out of the zone at 17th, but barely, as they as well have 22 points. QPR has 22 as well, with the clubs separated by goal differential, with the Rovers and Wanderers separated by four scores.
A win is important for both clubs not only to try to move up, but so as to not be caught either. Both Bolton and Wigan have 20 points and are ready to move ahead as well.
Wolverhampton will be at home where have won three games and draw two, scoring 17 of their 30 goals on the season. Wolves come in looking for their first win in four matches, having been outscored in their past three games by a combined 12-3. In their most recent home match, against West Bromwich Albion, the club fell 5-1. They have not won at home since early December.
Blackburn, meanwhile, has just one road win this season, but has six draws to go with that. They come in having earned a draw with Aston Villa at home, turning around a 3-0 defeat against Manchestser City. Still, their only road win was a huge upset, beating Manchester United 3-2 on New Years Eve.
The two clubs met on the first day of the season, as Wolverhamton won on the road 2-1.
Betting lines: Both clubs are fairly evenly matched at the bottom of the table, and with Wanderers at home, they are the favourite. Both clubs are desperate and make for an unpredictable match. Look for the upset in that case, as Rovers will try to move far from the pack. They will get the rare road win once more, triumphing 2-1.

After playing in the Champions League and FA Cup, Chelsea bested Bolton 3-0 in Premiership play at home, and will try other and not over look West Brom as they continue to play in the FA Cup later this week.
