Chicago Looks to Move to Top of the East

With the fall approaching, there is plenty of sports action daily which means fans have lots of opportunities in sports and plenty of chances for sports betting to take up.  Baseball has begun the second half of the year, while there is plenty of golf and soccer throughout the hot months, offering more chance online betting. Soccer action has returned to Europe as the top leagues begun another exciting campaign this season, with the English Premiership and other top tier groups getting underway. Meanwhile, in the states, Major League Soccer action is nearing the playoffs, as teams scramble for points and jockey for positioning atop the table.

With only a few games left in the season, every point matters. The Chicago Fire have been making an impressive second half surge up the eastern conference table and they look to continue their incredible run as they play at home and host the lowly Philadelphia Union.

Chicago currently sits in third position in the east, with 16 wins, five draws, and 53 points. They have the same amount of points as the second place New York Red Bulls and are just five behind the first place Sporting Kansas City. Chicago, however, has a game in hand on both clubs.

They will host the Union, a club that has been near the bottom of the table all year after a solid campaign last year. They are in eighth position with eight wins and six draws, and won’t be able to move much higher than that when the season ends. They will play on the road where they have earned just two victories all season long, scoring just 10 goals while allowing 19.

The Fire, meanwhile, will play at home where they have excelled all year. They have 11 wins to go with two draws and just two losses in Chicago, having outscored their opponents by a 25-14 margin. They return home after a road loss to Kansas City, the team’s first loss in five matches. They allowed two goals for the first time in that span, and failed to score a goal for the first time in nine matches.

The two clubs have met twice before, with Chicago winning both. They won at home early in the year 1-0, and beat Philadelphia on the road 3-1 in August.

Betting lines: The Chicago Fire are the clear, big favourites, and rightly so. They are playing at home where they have dominated, and playing against a club they have beaten twice already this season. Philly is just looking to get this season over with, while Chicago has their sighs set on first place. The Fire win big, 3-0.
