Rapids Battles Timbers at the Bottom of the West
With summer here, there is plenty of daily sports action and with that, a lot of opportunity for sports betting to take up. The MLB is now in the second half of the season, and NFL preseason action is only a few weeks away, with many opportunities for sports betting online. In Europe, soccer action is getting started, as the Premiership and other top leagues around Spain, France, and elsewhere are just beginning. In North America, meanwhile, there is plenty of Major League Soccer play to enjoy as action as the MLS is heading towards the playoffs with plenty of possibilities and points up for grabs.
As the season nears a dramatic conclusion, however, there are some clubs looking to save face and gear up for next season. The Colorado Rapids and Portland Timbers find themselves at the bottom of the table in the western conference, and the two clubs face off with loser taking up the last, ninth spot.
The Rapids currently occupy that position, with eight wins, two draws, and 26 points through 27 games this season. While they are at the bottom of the west, they are ahead of the three bottommost clubs in the east, and just two points out of seventh position in the west. Portland is in eighth with 27 points, while Chivas USA is just ahead with 28 points.
Both teams have struggled greatly on the road this year, giving Colorado an edge in this match as they are at home. Six of their eight wins and both of their draws have come at home, to go with five losses. They have outscored their opponents at home by a 22-14. This will help the Rapids greatly against one of the worst road teams in the league.
Portland is still looking for their first road win of the year, with just three points coming off three draws as their only road earnings. They have managed a meager six goals for on the road in 12 matches, allowing four times as many against.
The Timbers, however, are coming into the match having won two straight and earning eight points in their last five matches. They have scored four goals in their two last road meetings, snapping a staggering seven game road scoreless streak. They fell to New York 3-2 in one of those matches, but drew Toronto FC in the other.
The two clubs just faced off last week in Portland, with the Timbers winning 1-0.
Betting lines: At home Colorado gets the advantage against a terrible road club, but now is the time to take the underdog in Portland. They have played well of late, and have confidence scoring. They also know how to beat Colorado, and will do it again, 1-0 on the road.
