DC Battles New York Atop Eastern Conference
With summer here, there is plenty of daily sports action and with that, a lot of opportunity for sports betting to take up. The MLB is now in the second half of the season, and NFL preseason action is only a few weeks away, with many opportunities for sports betting online. In Europe, soccer action is getting started, as the Premiership and other top leagues around Spain, France, and elsewhere are just beginning. In North America, meanwhile, there is plenty of Major League Soccer play to enjoy as action as the MLS is heading towards the playoffs with plenty of possibilities and points up for grabs.
DC United has fallen slightly off the pace in the eastern conference, but still have playoff hopes in their sights. They host the New York Red Bulls this weekend in a very important clash that will help the victor more closer to the top of the table.
In fifth position with 12 wins and 40 points, DC United are only seven points back of first place Sporting Kansas City with a game in hand. Between the two clubs are three other teams including the New York Red Bulls in second position with 45 points, with the Houston Dynamo and Chicago Fire two and one points ahead of DC respectively.
DC will be playing at home where they have excelled greatly this year. They’ve won nine matches, drawn three, and lost just one at home, outscoring their opponents by a staggering 29-13 margin. They are one of the highest scoring teams in the league, and one of the most prolific at home.
This does not bode well for a New York club that has just four wins to go with seven losses on the road, allowing 25 goals against on the season. Still, the Red Bulls did well in their last road match to salvage a draw against first place Kansas City, rallying after KC scored in the opening few minutes.
DC meanwhile, returns home after a 3-0 defeat at expansion Montreal Impact. The two clubs met earlier this summer, playing at New York, where the Red Bulls have distinct advantage against the road weary United New York won 3-2 in a back and forth match.
Betting lines: The home team gets the edge in this match, and rightly so. DC is a far different and better team at home than on the road, and the same applies to New York. DC will also be greatly motivated, in need of three points to pull closer to the top of the table. A loss and they will be looking at a long road to the playoffs. Expect a lot of goals, but DC will win, 4-2.
