Sounders and Whitecaps Battle Atop the West

With Summer underway, there is plenty of sports action daily which means fans have lots of opportunities in sports and plenty of chances for sports betting to take up.  Baseball has begun the second half of the year, while there is plenty of golf and soccer throughout the hot months,  offering more chance online betting. Soccer action is Europe has wrapped up for the season, with the European Cup over and the top leagues in their offseason. However, in North America, the second half of the Major League Soccer season is underway, with plenty of exciting matches this week as teams fight for positioning.

Two of the top teams in the western conference and the league face off this weekend as the Seattle Sounders FC host the Vancouver Whitecaps, with both clubs looking to move closer to first place San Jose Earthquakes.

Both clubs have 37 pints on the season, with Vancouver however playing 25 games, two more than Seattle. The Sounders, with a better goal differential, sit in third place, ten points behind San Jose in first, and five points back of Real Salt Lake in second. Los Angeles too has started to surge, and they sit in fourth also with 37 points, while Vancouver is in fifth.

The Whitecaps are looking to rebound after a tough loss at home to FC Dallas, losing 2-0 for just their second home loss all season. They will take to the road, however, where they have not been as good. They have just three wins and three draws on the road, losing six matches and getting outscored 17-9.

They will visit one very tough home club, but will not have to travel too far, as they take on Seattle. The Sounders have three home losses all year to go with seven wins and a draw, allowing just seven home goals while scoring 16.

Seattle will look to rebound after a road loss to first place San Jose, but they have won their last two home games. The defeat to the Earthquakes was their first in seven matches.

The two clubs met earlier in the season in Vancouver, playing to a 1-1 draw.

Betting lines: The two clubs are pretty evenly matched, and when that is the case in the west, the advantage goes to the home team. Seattle enjoys a good home field and crowd, and they should use that to overtake an opponent that struggles on the road. Both teams can score, so look for this to go back and forth before Seattle puts it away, winning 3-2.
