It’s time for Aston Villa to show what they’ve got. Martin O’Neill’s squad has reached a pivotal point and they can succeed where they failed last year if they can strap their boots up. Last year, nobody expected for Villa to make a push for a Champions League spot but to the surprise of many, they were in the running. In the end, their squad was a little too small and lacked a bit of experience to go the distance. This year, they are again in the running but more importantly, they are a year wise for it.

Currently, they are in sixth in the fixtures table but have 35 points. A win could vault them as high as fourth place, which would be fantastic for the Villans. They are hoping to break up the Champions League foursome that typically only includes Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal.

Wigan has been fairly impressive in their own right as they have gone from being a Championship team to a UEFA Cup team and the aspirations continue to grow.

In both cases, both teams are led by sharp British minds that have guided their teams’ ascents.

For Villa, sports gambling experts have seen O’Neill lead the way while Wigan has been led by Steve Bruce.

There is one key difference between these teams, though. Wigan has taken a bit of a hit talent wise recently as Wilson Palacios and Emile Heskey have departed for other squad. Heskey will be playing for Villa when the two teams meet up this weekend.

It has been a bit of a turning point for Wigan and the question has become whether they can hold onto their talent as the bigger clubs come knocking at the door or whether they will have just developed some talent for the others to pick up.

Heskey already proved of great value to the Villans as his goal separated them from Portsmouth in his debut. He’ll be looking to do similar damage on Saturday.
