Red Bulls Move Closer to First Place

With summer here, there is plenty of daily sports action and with that, a lot of opportunity for sports betting to take up.  The MLB is now in the second half of the season, and NFL preseason action is only a few weeks away, with many opportunities for sports betting online. Though the Champions League and Premiership have come to end, in North America soccer action is just heating up. There is plenty of Major League Soccer play to enjoy as action in and around Europe has come to a close at least for a couple months, as the Euro Cup has ended with Spain crowned champion.

MLS is heading in the second half of their season, with tight races around the league including atop the eastern conference table. One of the top contenders in the east looks to build on a winning streak and move closer to first place as the New York Red Bulls take on the lowly Philadelphia Union.

The Red Bulls finds themselves ever closer to first place, moving into second with their most recent win, just barely being Sporting Kansas City. Through 20 matches, the Red Bulls have 10 wins and just five loses. They will be playing at home for the second match in a row where they have won six matches and have still yet to lose.

In front of their own fans they have scored 20 goals and only allowed 10, and will be hosting a club that has struggled on the road.

The Philadelphia Union come into the match in second to last place in the eastern conference with just six wins and 20 points. They have just two wins on the road to go with five loses, and they’ve been outscored by a nearly 2-1 ratio.

Still, the Union come into the match having won three straight matches, a stretch that started with a 2-1 victory at Los Angeles and followed with wins over Toronto and Montreal at home. While the latter two clubs are at the bottom of the east, Philadelphia has done well to build up momentum and confidence they will need to beat New York.

The two clubs back in May this year in Philadelphia, with the Red Bulls winning a wild match, 3-2.

Betting lines: At home, the Red Bulls are the clear favourite and rightly so. They have yet to lose a match at home all year, and they are hosting a Philadelphia club that has trouble scoring away from home. Red Bulls snap the Union’s winning streak, beating them 3-0.
