Red Bulls Stay Atop Eastern Conference

With summer nearing an end, there is plenty of daily sports action and with that, a lot of opportunity for sports betting to take up.  The MLB is now closing in on the postseason, and NFL has begun its much anticipated season, with many opportunities for sports betting online. For more help and advice on betting, see an online bookie to keep things organized. As well, look to 5 Dimes Reviews for even more information on this sporting season.

In Europe, soccer action is getting started, as the Premiership and other top leagues around Spain, France, and elsewhere are just beginning. In North America, meanwhile, there is plenty of Major League Soccer play to enjoy as action as the MLS is heading towards the playoffs with plenty of possibilities and points up for grabs.

As the number of games remaining starts to dwindle, this weekend features a slew of important matchups, including a playoff hopefully in the New York Red Bulls looking to get back atop the eastern conference as they host lowly Toronto FC.

The Red Bulls currently sit in fourth position in the eastern conference through 30 matches with 14 wins and 50 points. DC United in third also has 50 points, and both are just three points behind second place Chicago Fire and five points back of first place Sporting Kansas City.

The improve their standing, the Red Bulls will look to win at home this weekend for the 11th time this season. At home they have lost just one game, making them among the best home teams in the entire league. They have outscored their opponents 30-15 in that span. However, their only home loss of the year came in their most recent match as they played first place Kansas City and fell 2-0.

Their opponent this week, however, is nowhere near as difficult. Toronto FC has spent most of the season in last place and it looks like they won’t be able to get out of the basement before the campaign is over. They have just five wins and seven draws to go with 18 losses, and their 22 points is the worst in the entire league.

On the road they have won just twice, but have ten losses and have allowed 31 goals against. They allowed four goals in their most recent road match, a loss at Los Angeles. Toronto has had the most goals scored against of any team in the league.

Betting lines: The New York Red Bulls are favoured, and rightly so. They are the far better club, and they are playing at home where they have been mostly dominant. TFC is simply trying to get the season over with, and New York still has much to play for. They will not overlook a lowly club, and take care of business, winning 3-0.
